speed control for single phase hys synchronous motor?
speed control for single phase hys synchronous motor?
(OP)
I own a '60s vinyl record mastering table and would like to "fine tune" platter speed (33/45/78 rpm). It uses an Ashland SINGLE PHASE 115vac/60 hz .65 amp hys sync AC motor (900/1800 rpm) with 6 mfd capacitor. I don't want to change motor or pulleys - etc. Does anyone offer a single phase input/output frequency driver that might work for me?

RE: speed control for single phase hys synchronous motor?
If you have the right leads coming from the motor, you could always make a crude speed control by reducing the volts across the run windings.
you will need to keep full volts across the start windings, with the cap connected in series with it!! and then a varying voltage on the run winding only....keeping the common connection the same so the direction of rotation wont change.
hope this is clear enough!!

ps...dont try to slow it too much or you will allow the motor to overload!!!
