I'm hearing rumors that SW-05 needs to have the Latest & Greatest version of Windows XP Office (latest & greatest version of MS-Excel) in order for the user to use the Bill Of Material within a drawing.  Any truth to this rumor ?

Thanks for the assistance,

Brian

RE: SolidWorks 2005 & Bom's

Excuse me I read it wrong. Your right engAlright you only need MS Excel 2000 or higher for the the BOM to work. Of course SW has it's own BOM built into SW now and it's not related to Excel. However you will still need Office to do other things within SW, such as Design Tables.

I do some of my quoting using the excel bill. I export the bill, then add columns for each vendor, their cost, and delivery. I'm not sure I could do this with the SW BOM.

Everyone have a great and safe holiday and new year.

whippet ... If you save the SW BOM as a .csv or .txt file, you will be able to open it into Excel & then continue as normal.
