Asking about Medical Application

(OP)
Peace be with u all,

I'm making a dental clinic system which require using somekind of digital camera named "IntraOral camera" and a machine named RVJ it makes an X-Ray image for teeth. My problem is that I don't know how should my program support such kind of devices?I don't know from whee to start searching. I need my program to support these devices independent of the manufacture. I don't know that protocols of interfacing. How to capture the images from it?? I searched for an activex componenet or any piece of code to deal with it but no result. Could anyone help me to find this even if it's not free'but surely not so expensive'? I don't know if it's the same as any digital camera or have it's specific driver?
Thanks in advance.
Yours,
Tamir Darweesh.

RE: Asking about Medical Application

It looks like you are starting along the right track.  Start with the various manufacturers of the devices you are trying to interface with.  They could very likely have unique image formats and drivers that you will need to acess the images or data.  You will likely need to work out a licensing agreement with them in order to make use of their formats and code.  You could then develop your program around a install menu where the type of device is selected by the user and the proper drivers loaded during the install.

There are various image acquisition companies that sell software and/or interface cards.  A simple search should bring quite a few hits.  They are set up around generic output devices so if you do have a specific image file format to work with, you once again are left with going back to the device manufacturer to look at licensing.
