WINDOWS XP/SERVICE PACK 2

WINDOWS XP/SERVICE PACK 2

WINDOWS XP/SERVICE PACK 2

(OP)
I'm trying to determine whether it's advantageous to upgrade my Windows XP with SP2. Can anyone share any pro's and con's for upgrading. I am running SW 2005 SP0.1.

Thanks.

John

RE: WINDOWS XP/SERVICE PACK 2

As far as advantageous or not, I'm not sure.  It will not crash 2005 SP0.1 that I can tell.  That was not necessarily the case for SP 0.0.

RE: WINDOWS XP/SERVICE PACK 2

We run on a network for all of our stuff and we have seen a slowdown in response with SW2005 SP0.1.

RE: WINDOWS XP/SERVICE PACK 2

I've had better access to networked drives with SP 2--much more quick screen display of contents over a wireless network.  Much better.

Otherwise, no problems.  A few interfaces here and there have been cleaned up or rearranged.  Overall, I like it.  I think you need to be concerned for the most part about things that access other computers--servers, networks, Internet, etc.--those will be most affected by SP 2 and usually can be reactivated if SP 2 shuts off access.

Check the Microsoft web site for a list of software that have had some unexpected results.  Also, this has floated through the forum before, so do a search.
