Mill turning

(OP)
Has anybody any experience with mill turning. What is the best type of milling tool to use to produce a parallel journal.

RE: Mill turning

I am curious: why are you "turning" on a mill? Is the "parallel journal" cylindrical?
Please describe.

RE: Mill turning

Are you refering to live tooling on a lathe?  If so, I have experience in this field.  If you like, please explain in better detail what it is you are trying to do and maybe I can help.

RE: Mill turning

jack binns of binns machinery products located in cinncinnati ohio has been experimenting with this concept for a good many years. if he is still living he is the guy to talk to, if not jack jr., is the next best. his interest is in very large lathes so i don't really know if this helps.

RE: Mill turning

Hi guys, I work for Ingersoll, a machine tool manufacturer.  We produce a turn-milling machine and a specialty lathe equipped with a 4 axis milling head; or you can equip it with a nutator for more flexibility.  What kind of part are you looking at?  FYI we build lathes up to 350 metric tons.
