Getting a ASME Nuclear Code Stamp

Getting a ASME Nuclear Code Stamp

Getting a ASME Nuclear Code Stamp

(OP)
Dear Sirs
If a company has a valid U and U2 stamps what is necessary changes on the QA/QC systems to get a Nuclear Code Stamp.

RE: Getting a ASME Nuclear Code Stamp

pvesseleng,
Obtaining nuclear Certificates of Authorization is a more more involved process than U and U2.  First thing I would do would be to contact your AIA and discuss your plans with them and see if you really want to take it to the next level.
Regards,
RLS

RE: Getting a ASME Nuclear Code Stamp

I would also start by contacting the ASME accreditation and perhaps purchase the Needed Codes and stads,
If the work is there, I am sure it is worth the effort, and expense, good luck, (what's your State ?)

generalblr,
Thanks for your interest, we have bought codes and standards already. But I am looking for a guide book as NB-57 (The National Board Guide for ASME Code sections I, IV, VIII div 1, 2, 3). Is there any guide book as NB-57 for Section III? This guide book was very usefull for setting up system for Section VIII Division1 and Division 2.
By the way my company in Eastern Europe.
Regards.

You can go to ASME's web site and download the Checklist that is used by the ASME survey Teams. This may help you to see what items they will be looking for. Also take a look at NQA-1. The QA program must cover in all of the basic and suppmental requirments of NQA-1 as well as NCA 4134. Depending on the scope of the Certificate that you are applying for there are other program requirments.

A word of advice, you would be well served to hire a consultant that can assist you in getting ready, you not only have to write the Q A manual but all of the implementating procedures.

I have been involved with the ASME Nuclear program since 1977 and am now an ASME designee for Nuclear Survey Teams as a team member, and also am an ASME Team Leader for Non-Nuclear reviews. If you can't download the checklist email me and I can send it to you.

Dear Mr Clark,
Thank you very much for your advice. I have downloaded all information from the website. Now I have a guideline what I will do for 5 months period. I will review all the QA requirements and revise our QC manual, procedures..
Thank you again,
I am evaluating another situation; rather than revising our QC Manual which is prepared for the requirements of Section VIII Div1&Div2 Section 1, to write a separate QC Manual for only Section III.
Is this permissible for ASME Code?,
If first question answer is yes;
Does it make any problem on the joint review use two QC manual?, and is it practical?
If you don’t mind sir, I will be very appreciated to ask another questions in the future.

Regards
ACE

I would use 2 manuals, the section III requirements are very different and should be contained in a seperats program. You can use the basic Section VIII foundation and add the Section III program elements in a seperate Manual.
