Rolled Sheet Metal Allowable Stress

Rolled Sheet Metal Allowable Stress

Rolled Sheet Metal Allowable Stress

(OP)
Hello,

Does any one know where I can find allowable stress properties for Sheet Metal?  I am checking the capacity of 12 Ga. stair pans. I believe the standard gauge metal material is  hot rolled sheet metal ASTM A415. Is this correct?

Thanks for your help,

Jeff

RE: Rolled Sheet Metal Allowable Stress

Try the AISI Light Gage Design Manual.  I don't have a copy with me, but you'll likely find it there.

RE: Rolled Sheet Metal Allowable Stress

You can also look at a Ryerson Stock List book, free from most steel suppliers.  You have to know the ASTM or ANSI material type, but they list all the physical properties of the materials.  Another resource is MatWeb.com, again, you have to know the ASTM or ANSI material numbers, you can print out all the technical material data you need for free.

RE: Rolled Sheet Metal Allowable Stress

Section 5 of the NAAMM Metal Stairs Manual has all the design information you require for steel stairs. It is availabl from The National Association of Architectural Metal Manufacturers.
