Need good reference for Nema 4,4x,12 wiring practices

Need good reference for Nema 4,4x,12 wiring practices

(OP)
Anyone have a good reference (electronic or book) that details the specific requirements for an electrical installation to be classified Nema 12, Nema 4, and Nema 4x.  I work for a company that is an OEM of pkg equipment and could use a good reference for these situations.  Including allowable enclosure penetrations, enclosure and cable types, etc.

Thanks.

You need to purchase some standards for a thorough explanation. You may find something for free on the web but I think the standard is less than $100 US dollard (think more like $50). UL has similar ratings (although not exact) and I believe this is UL50. Not sure what NEMA standard is but ULs site will cross it to a NEMA standard (most likely NEMAs standard has a 50 in it somewhere too- can not recall).

Hiya, Shaun!

BuzzP is right.  The standards aren't that expensive, and if you're in a reasonably big city they'll be available at a public library (Memphis has 'em).  My company uses them all, so we have a set.  They're fairly detailed about testing, so a summary won't really do.  Wiring practices aren't covered, just enclosures.  Wiring methods are in the NEC.

Good luck!

Old Dave
