slow saving

slow saving

I'm running SW 2004 sp 2.1 and it is terribly slow when saving documents and assemblies and rebuilding after a change (2 minutes plus).  Computer speed and network access do not seem to be the problem (1.7Ghz and 1 G of RAM) and other programs seem to run fast.  I ran a defrag and came up with lots of fragmented files in the cosmosworks installation but no other problems of note.  Any ideas - suggestions other than dumping the install and starting from scratch?

RE: slow saving

Saving eDrawings data can slow things down, so can having Verification on Rebuild enabled.  This is all found in Tools> Options> System Options.

Perhaps you should also try to download the latest SP for SW04 if you are on subscription.

Have you read FAQ731-376 to make the best use of Eng-Tips Forums?

already had both unchecked but thanks.  I'm not sure about our subscription status so I'll check about updating.

RE: slow saving

Have you checked out all the other FAQ's in this forum? There are other maintainence areas you need to check into besides what you have done already.

Also:

You didn't list all your Hardware, Video Card & drivers?
What else runs in the background while your working with SW?
Do you work over the network? If so, try moving the file locally and see what happens.
