What are the limitations regarding the size and type of vessel when fitted with the UM stamp.  What pressure vessel construction companies are permitted to use this UM stamp??

Thank you in advance

RE: UM Stamp

Buster-

See VIII-1 U-1(j) for the details. The volume limits are 5 cu.ft. and 250 psi, 3 cu.ft. and 350 psi, and 1½ cu.ft. and 600 psi. Interpolation is permitted.

You can find a list of UM certified companies by searching for UM certificate at http://cstools.asme.org/HolderSearch/?IMAGE.X=15\&IMAGE.Y=15

RE: UM Stamp

UM stamps are issued to the ASME to qualified shops, it is not automatic, the original stamp will have to be issued in the trienial ASME survey then renewal every year (for the next 2 years) bthe A. agency,
The UM stamp is the same as the U stamp but with the limitations in U-1j; vessels stamped with UM are not registered and can not be registered w/the Ntl Bd.

RE: UM Stamp

Is it water boiler or steam boiler, the construction is different.
Is this a Code boiler or non-code homemade?.- if you do not how to calc.  you are better off finding a Mech Eng to do it for you otherwise you may blowup yourself.
