Transformer Corona

Transformer Corona

Transformer Corona

(OP)
During a transformer inspection/cleaning corona was found.
The substance thought to be caused by corona was an apparently vaporized dust looked similar to a crystalised subtance.  The question is if this is in fact caused by corona does this indicate a failure to be expected soon or would continued cleaning and inspections annually be sufficient?  I have some really good pictures of the barrel but do not see an opportunity to atach here.  I am preparing to submit the findings to upper managment and would like a second opinion if possible.
Thank You

RE: Transformer Corona

Hope you are talking of corona in air .That too from the bushing corona ring/upper expansion chamber. The material you have mentioned is not clear. Most probably it can be only the paint.Any way you can check and confirm air corona by Accoustic hand held meters or by observing in darkness for corona flares with accompanying hissing sound.
