Solidworks 2005 Install problem

Solidworks 2005 Install problem

Solidworks 2005 Install problem

(OP)
I am trying to install of solidworks 2005 on a new computer. When i get past the part to enter my serial, a box pops up saying "distribution characteristic 101". The installation then fails and goes to the cancel screen. I believe the problem is an msi related problem but have not found a fix.
Here are the computers specifications:
Windows Xp Pro SP1
Video Card:Nvidia Geforce Fx 5900xt
Video Driver: 5.3.0.3
Cpu: AMD Xp 2200
Ram: 768mb
Any help would be greatly appreciated

RE: Solidworks 2005 Install problem

SW created a fix for this in SW04. Call your VAR on Monday tell them about it, and mention that you know SW had a fix for this in SW04.

FYI - Your Video card is not supported and you may expereince graphically issues with that card, so don't be surprised.

scott do you know what causes this problem? Is the fix a simple one like the registry removal i read about in another on of your responses? Thanks for all of your help

RE: Solidworks 2005 Install problem

No this is an *.exe file that is ran and I don't know anymore then that other then the instructions you do to run it. But those will not help if you don't have the file.
