Template Drawing and AutoCAD

Template Drawing and AutoCAD

Template Drawing and AutoCAD

(OP)
Hi,

Im new at solid works.

How can I import a AutoCAD drawing (.DWG) into a template drawing(.SLDDRW) that I all ready have?

RE: Template Drawing and AutoCAD

Scott,
How do I import a dwg title block and make it a SW template?
I open the file in SW and tried to save it as a "drwdot" but I can't toggle between "edit sheet" and "edit sheet format". All I get is the geometry on the top and when toggled to "edit sheet", everything goes blank.

RE: Template Drawing and AutoCAD

Open a SW template, go to edit sheet format mode, open your ACAD template, select all, copy, go to SW, paste.

You will have to do some clean up and positioning etc, but to me that is the easiest way to get anything autocad into SW. Good old copy and paste.

RE: Template Drawing and AutoCAD

jmongan is right, just highlight the Block and click Edit/Cut cut the Title block, RMB the sheet and select Edit Sheet format, and paste the title block (FYI - pick the sheet before pasting).
