I am constructing a MATLAB/Simulink model of a wind-turbine/cvt/DC-generator system.  Initially, I will model the cvt as a belt-drive tranny with variable-radius pulleys.  For this model, I need an estimate of a k-value (spring constant) for the belt.  Does anyone know what some reasonable k-values are for belt-driven cvt's?  Thanks!

what sort of belt? if it is a rubber v belt then a v belt manufacturer would be able to tell you. If it is a steel belt then you'd probably have a bit more difficulty as they are not commodity items.

The stiffness of a v belt will vary in proportion to the load it is designed to take. I haven't been able to find any solid figures, but I'd guess 1000 N/mm per mm of width per metre of length would be a reasonable starting point.
