Los Angeles light gauge metal framing schedule
Los Angeles light gauge metal framing schedule
(OP)
Hi,
I have been trying to get the definitive schedule/table for determining what size/gauge steel stud to specify given different conditions.
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. The current question is for a project in Los Angeles.
Thank you,
Ricardo

RE: Los Angeles light gauge metal framing schedule
This document contains standard steel stud and track sizes and section properties published by the Steel Stud Manufacturers Association. Also, it contains tables for axial load, bending load, limiting curtain wall heights, joists, web crippling values, etc. I have been designing a lot of light gauge steel lately as the specialty engineer and use this document extensively for section properties. I don't use the tables because my company uses software, but I think they will point you in the right direction. You can also look on the websites of manufacturers. They will often have product catalogs available with similar information. If you do use tables, be sure to pay attention to the deflection criterion used as well as the bracing assumptions (e.g. bracing at 48" o.c. or other) and loads used to be sure they match what you are required to have or want to provide.
