Converting to PDF

(OP)
Is there a way to batch convert drawings to PDF files.

RE: Converting to PDF

No - Write your own app or talk to someone here.

Otherwise, place an Enhancement request into SW. Too add it to Task Scheduler, but you will need at least the Office package to get TS.

That's too funny when you click that thread link.

Same people answered in the same order, until I posted this.

Perhaps you should post another reply in the other one to keep it matching.

Hmmmm .... then of course I would have to repost there too to match this & then ......

nahhhh .... It's nearly 4:30 ... I'm going home.

RE: Converting to PDF

If you have SW2004, you can purchase PAC4SWX and batch save as pdf or batch print to pdf. It doesn't cost much and it has saved me tons of time and money.

Or develop your own API

Hope it helps

RE: Converting to PDF

joshposh,

If you have a PostScript printer, look into GhostScript.  Most and possibly all laser printers are PostScript.  GhostScript is Free Software orignally written on UNIX to convert PostScript to whatever the printer understands.  PostScript on a nine-pin dot matrix?   Wheee!

It converts to PDF.  The GUI extension to GhostScript is called GhostView, and it is available for Windows.

Select print.  Select your PostScript printer.  Select Print to file.  Change the filename to something with a .ps or.eps extension.  Print.  Load the PostScript file into GhostView.  Select convert, and select pdfwrite.

The latest version of Windows GhostView is nagware.  Earler versions are not, and they work fine.

This is not absolutely convenient, but it gets the job done.

RE: Converting to PDF

I have used pdfFactory with good success.  It is setup as an added printer, just select it when you print a document.  It'll open up a seperate program window, and then you can save the pdf file, or print to it again, to add more pages.  You can even mix in different programs, for example print a word or excel document and then a solidworks drawing as a second or third page.  They have a free trial version for download, it adds a "trial version" stamp to each page.  I think it's a pretty slick little program.

Hope that can be of help to someone.
