PDMWorks Lifecycle Support & Routing Approval

PDMWorks Lifecycle Support & Routing Approval

(OP)
I know that PDMWorks now has various lifecycles and triggers and would like to know if anyone is using these features in the following fashion:

During concept stages of design process, user is allowed to check-in/out of PDMWorks. Call this preliminary status.

The design is ready for design review. Next status to be production. Various departments need to be involved in the approval of the design, and the model may change may change a couple more times during review. The can be used at this stage to notify those who need to approve.

Design is now in production stages and a change needs to occur. Is there any way to use the triggers to notify those who need to approve the change before the model is checked into the vault?

We don't want any unauthorized changes done to models without the proper redline and approval process is completed. At the same time, we don't want to restrict access to the degree that is implied in the help menu for promoting lifecycle stage.

The approval process would also vary depending on the type of change, so the triggers wouldn't always need to notify the same people.

Anyone out there know if this has been done or if this can be done in PDMWorks?  Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

RE: PDMWorks Lifecycle Support & Routing Approval

If it is in the approval cycle, have it in the "In Change" lifecycle with you (or whoever is doing the change) as the owner with login password. After approval, move it to the appropriate lifecycle with someone like "document Control" as the owner (and own password).

I was actually looking for something a little more automated.  Sorry for not specifying that earlier.  Electronic notification, approval and mark-ups if possible.

Another concern is addressing "as-builts" or deviations. How would one track that through PDMWorks?

Thanks again.
