How to use Extract Region?

How to use Extract Region?

How to use Extract Region?

(OP)
Hi,

Who out here knows how to use the "extract region" feature within UG?  I'm trying to determine the Maximum Material Eevenlope (MME)of an existing design so that I can create my design within the regions.  I think the extract region feature will help me define my MME, but perhaps, there's a better feature to use as well.

  Please advise...

RE: How to use Extract Region?

Extract region is fairly simple, select the seed face then the boundary face(s) hit OK and you have an associative copy of the faces that satisfy your input. However, it doesn't sound like an extract region will help you with your particular problem. The extract region will not tell you anything about the model that the existing model can't already tell you (as it is just an associative copy of certain faces).

Are you looking for the overall bounding dimensions on a given part?

Hello Cowski,

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, perhaps, I would like to define my overall bounding  dimensional area.  How would I go about doing this?

Try Rough Offset

Wrap Geometry may work as well, but I'm not sure how accurate it will be for your needs
