Can anyone explain why my network stops responding at periodic intervals! The backbone of the network is fibre which is then stepped down by a Media Access Controller in order to talk to the Copper portion I am sure it is something to do with the fiber to copper media translation as when i plug out the power to the media.. the network starts to respond again. Does anyone have an explaination as to why this happens?? Is an integrated MAC a good Idea as to apply the same rule would mean unplugging the switch!!!
