Driving Model Parameters from Assemblies?

Driving Model Parameters from Assemblies?

Driving Model Parameters from Assemblies?

(OP)
Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to drive model parameters for parts used in an assembly - using relations in the assembly.
Example:
If I have a model of a spring in an assembly, can I change the length value parameters of the spring based on relation conditions within the assembly?
I have managed to do this with sub-assemblies contained in an assembly but not with single parts.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

JW

RE: Driving Model Parameters from Assemblies?

Hi JW,

Yes you can do this in assembly mode. First of all you need to know the component session ID number. For Pro2001 in the ASSEMBLY Menu Manager->Relations. Then when the Relation window appears, click SHOW->SESSION ID->PART->pick your spring and you'll have the session ID number (in Message area). Get also the parameter name (use the icon to swith between the value and name of a parameter)

To control a dimension of your part in assembly mode, eneter in relations mode and assign the value for the desired parameter as in example below:

d35:0 = 10

That's all. Sometimes, depending on what you want to do, you'll need two regenerations.

If you use Wildfire this should be similar but less clicks on the menus.

Good luck!

Thanks Hora,
I will give it a try today.
Wildfire?....I think that the company train is going to miss the "Wildfire" station - next stop: SolidWorks....

Thanks again.

Best Regards,

JW
