Turning Force Estimate

(OP)
Does anyone know how to estimate the force that is put on an insert?  I am working with some college students and they asked me for the force and I have never needed it and am not sure how to determine it.

RE: Turning Force Estimate

Are you referring to "tool pressure"?

RE: Turning Force Estimate

(OP)
Yes.  Tool pressure would be great.

RE: Turning Force Estimate

If you can find a copy of 'Modern Metal Cutting' put out by Sandvik Coromant it covers the subject rather well.
