Runtime Error!

Runtime Error!

Runtime Error!

(OP)
Has anyone ever seen this error msg?  I seem to be getting this more and more often now when trying to open certain files.  (which open fine on other pc's in our office).
-------------
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program: D:\SolidWorks\SLDWORKS.exe

adnormal program termination
-------------

Ive got a pretty good new system too:
P4-3.2GHz
2gig Ram
80gig SATA hd
winXP Pro (SP2)
Solidworks 2005 SP0.1

Our server needs to be upgrade though...We are running 3 computers off a win98 box (fat32)!   Im not sure if that is whats causing this particular error though.

RE: Runtime Error!

maybe turn off virus/firewall protection and reinstall SolidWorks?

RE: Runtime Error!

Whoa!  Windows 98?

I'm not sure, but you may have hit a RAM allocation limit of some sort.  I never use servers to access applications, so I might be way off here, but I'd imagine this would be a major problem--especially since Win 98 isn't supported by SW (especially not new versions).

Yeah im running SW05 sp.01.  I have a feeling the new "Collaboraton" feature is causing some of the problems. Maybe it isnt compatable with win98!  We are looking into getting a basic server for our 3 design computers here.  Any server suggestions??  :D

RE: Runtime Error!

Consider AMD Opteron 64-bit chips.  Lots of bang for the buck.  Other than that, I'm no use for advice in servers.

Yeah i've always been an AMD fan. But all the companies i've worked for, didn't want anything to do with them.

Well, i switched OFF the "/3GB" Windows switch, and my system seems to be a bit more stable.  I've also lowered my page file back down to 2GB (initial/max).   So far so good..... All in all it still doesn't make any sense why it should be more stable!....

The problem is obviously in your machine & you probably need to do a repair or re-install. Have you tried working through the FAQs suggested in SBaughs post?
