High Pressure Sodium Hyperchlorite injection
High Pressure Sodium Hyperchlorite injection
(OP)
Can anyone advise ?
I have a situation where I need to dose sodium hyperchlorite into a trunk main supply with operating pressures in the range 18 - 22bar.
This resticts me from using a standard PVC lance as these are only rated to 16bar. I have been told that a titanium lance would be suitable as this would accommodate the high pressures and is resilient to Cl.
Would this be the solution ? Any guidance would be appreciated.

RE: High Pressure Sodium Hyperchlorite injection
You can get them in PVC, Polypropylene, S.S., Hastelloy, etc. The S.S. and Hastelloy will hit pressure ranges higher than what you are talking and they should handle the CL.

Hypo will eat the stainless steel (any grade) injection lance/ Quill
But Hastelloy C as I remember is good for chlorine gas and Sodium Hypochlorite.
Hope this helps

Many thanks for your reply. I have been advised that Hastelloy is extemely difficult to machine, and work hardens terribly ? Any commnets...
