Where is 3D Drawing? Please Help! In Urgent!!!
(OP)
hi, guys,
i want a rendering of prototype with dimensions, it does not matter which way we do, 3d drawings or annotation. but problems are, there is no way to find out how do 3d drawing, unbeliveable, go ahead do a 3d drawing search and nothing shows up in pro/e on line help; i had tried annotation, but, the dimensions was disappeared after rendering.
we get to do this, do that, to let this (so simple feature) happen. my question is, why ptc make these simple thimgs so difficult? why ptc do not just put a button over there(sorry, i was windows programer and this is a 10 minutes job) to save thousands of hours people's life.
i use both pro/e and solidworks, and i think, solidworks just like 10 years ago windows nt and pro/e just like unix.
i love pro/e, but.....

RE: Where is 3D Drawing? Please Help! In Urgent!!!
There is a web-based tutorial on 3D drawings in Pro/E on the PTC University site. Click Here to find out more about that.
It seems to make sense to me that the rendering functionality would not include 3D annotations, since this is not the point of rendering. Generally in a render you want to see the product without any dimensions showing. If you do, however, want to see a rendered model with dimensions showing, you can use the dynamic rendering functionality.
Under View-->Display Settings-->Model Display, click the Shade tab and turn on Real-Time rendering. At that point, your model will show up with reflections, shadows and so on, with the annotation features still showing. Then, use File-->Save As to save the image on your screen as a JPEG or whatever image file type you prefer.
Granted, the quality of this rendering does not approach that which you can get with the Photolux renderer. But that brings me back the point that 3D annotations are meant to work towards a paperless environment, and not to clutter up the images output by rendering the model.
And are you trying to speak badly of Pro/E by comparing it to UNIX and Solidworks to Windows? Sounds like more of an insult to the good folks at Solidworks than anything else...
