European Symbols for Tensile, Yield, etc.

European Symbols for Tensile, Yield, etc.

European Symbols for Tensile, Yield, etc.

(OP)
I need a reference/key showing the US equivalent of Rm (Tensile Str), Rp (Yield Str.), A4 (Elongation), Z (Reduction of Area) on a European MTR.  Anyone have something I can forward to a customer

RE: European Symbols for Tensile, Yield, etc.

This web site has the downloadable file:

http://www.airplanedesign.aero/downloads.htm

"Technical Reports and Other Useful Information" Section

"Metallic Materials Properties Development and Standardization" Manual
ar-mmpds-01.pdf (New MIL-HDBK-5) 75 Meg.

Section 1.4 or Appendix A has the info you need.

RE: European Symbols for Tensile, Yield, etc.

Thanks for your help.  It does not give the "conversion" I am looking for.  The MTR lists Tensile as Rm, Yield as Rp, etc.  I need a document that states the equivalent in US symbols like RM is equivalent to TS, Rp = YS, A4 = E, Z = RA

RE: European Symbols for Tensile, Yield, etc.

The definition for European tensile test symbols can be found in EN 10002-1 Metallic materials – Tensile testing
Part 1: Method of test at ambient temperature
.
