Creating Views
Creating Views
(OP)
I'm wanting to create some named views in an assembly to be used in a drawing. After I pick a surface and view normal to that surface can I then pick an edge and specify a rotation, say 5 degrees, to get the view I want? Is it possible in SW2004 to get a view by picking an edge and rotating about it a specific amount?
Thanks,

RE: Creating Views
As for rotating it specific amount there is nothing that will work except, for setting your Arrow key to a set amount of Degrees. See Tools\Options\System Options\View Rotation\Arrow keys.

RE: Creating Views
I normally do this by opening a sketch and drawing a line perpendicular to the plane I want (with whatever constraints you need). Exit the sketch, pick the point of the line, the line itself, and then create a plane perpendicular to curve (being your line in this case).
You can then select the plane, view normal to the plane, then save the view by hitting the space bar and saving the new view. You can make lots of them, including perspective (although perspective doesn't apply to drawings).
