heat treating 416 steel(more info)

(OP)
I've designed a battery compartment for a standard camcorder battery. I'ts handle and door catch were made from 304ss. When these 2 rubbed together the metal deformed and started to wear instantly. It is seeing about 15-20lbs of force. I was thinking of changing to 416 then hardening, or changing to a stronger material such as tool steel.
Any reccommendations on heat treating and or material change
are welcomed....
