Using 2D AutoCAD to produce Profiles in SE
Using 2D AutoCAD to produce Profiles in SE
(OP)
This may have been addressed in a previous post, but my searches have come up fruitless.
I have a huge library or AutoCAD based 2D drawings and I would like to use them to generate 3D Solid Edge parts. I have been unable to figure out how to take an AutoCAD drawing and use it in the profile environment to create a 3D model.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Having to select the appropriate sketch elements from DWG is more hassle than redrawing from scratch.

To use a 2d drawing from Autocad you have to open it with solid edge draft, then you go in "draw in view" then you use the command "create 3d" this will enable you to bring you sketch into a part or a sheetmetal part and then create your feature based on the imported sketch.
Try this and if you experience some problem come back to me I'll try to help you better.
Good luck

Pekelder, that was exactly what I was wanting to do. I have a huge library of components from suppliers and a ones that I and otehrs have created and I hated to have to repopulate that catalog with SE files to do the same job. I did notice that SE does struggle to maintain the original vector points and closing the corners. I have not tried the Auto-Constraint Macro yet. Been manually eliminating concurrent vectors and general poor drafting that passes these days from supplier drawings.
Once again guys, THANKS.
