NX 3 is killing me

NX 3 is killing me

NX 3 is killing me

(OP)
alright, there are quite a few things about the new NX 3 that are really bothering me but one I cant stand and cant figure out how disable in the customer default.

when drafting and adding annotation, it tries to help you line it up with anything and everything, so much that instead of putting it into my title block, I have to put into empty space and use the origin tool to drag it into the text box.

I never implemented NX 2 so I dont know if this is the same there but if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

thanks,

Justin

RE: NX 3 is killing me

In NX2, you can press the alt key, then move the note without it snapping into alignment with something else.  I agree that this can be annoying, and would rather see an option to toggle alignment on or off.

RE: NX 3 is killing me

Hey jgama,

ewh's suggestion also works in NX3.

Very useful post, as I've been irritated over this too.

It's one of those problems that you run into that really isn't worth calling tech support over (even though it could be a bug I suppose) but it's still irritating!

you have no idea the fustration you have saved me by sharing this with me.  I thank you very much.

I probably wouldn't have implemented NX 3 had my NX 1 installation hadnt started giving me memory access violations all the time.  This problem seems to have gone by using NX 3 but the adjustment has been somewhat fustrating.  There are some nice implementations in the NX 3 but for the most part seems to take up a lot more resources.

thank you again,

Justin~

Justin,

I hear you on the memory access violations.  Just a note though, I am getting memory violations like crazy when I apply material properties to parts in NX3...

I kept getting them in drafting constantly.

Error Recovery completed for the following error:
Internal error: memory access violation

I got it every time I would hit ok or cancel.  I used to get them once and a while but they dont stop now.  I tried re installing NX 1, but didnt work.  It seems to have stopped in NX 3.  I am not sure if it is attributed to the new drafting layout or if it was a problem just with NX.

what OS do you use?

RE: NX 3 is killing me

One thing I found was to close out UG and teamcenter completely (if you use it) and delete all the files in the Temp directory.  Seems to help a bit.

Also do a part cleanup on your files, that may help too.

My problem is definitely related to applying material properties.

I am on XP.

where is the temp directory?

RE: NX 3 is killing me

Look under your user profile under documents and settings.

C:\Documents and Settings\#User#\Local Settings\Temp

There are probably a ton of left over UG files in there, and .log or .rol files in there.  You can clean those out, but make sure you shut down UG first!

Regarding the auto alignment problems with annotations, you can also select the annotation & then right click to bring up the MB3 pulldown which has Origin Tool listed.  Then you can select the type of origin you want for your text (Drag).
