Power Disturbances

(OP)
I am doing research on aspects of power distribution line operations in US and Canada. The distribution lines I am interested in are in the range of 10 kV (line to line) to 110 kV.
I am looking for information on the number of interruptions per year typically due to faults from lightning, tree branches, insulator failures, etc., on these distribution lines.
The duration of the interruption can range from 0.5 cycles to 3 seconds for momentary interruptions, from 3 seconds to 1 minute for temporary interruptions and greater than 1 minute for sustained interruptions.
Are there any websites or published references which can provide this information?
The number of interruptions per year per mile or km of overhead pole line (for comparison purposes) would be ideal but this may not be readily available.

RE: Power Disturbances

Try www.epri.com as a starting point.

RE: Power Disturbances

Hi

A while back (An year +) there was a similar thread with some internet-references. I can't find it on this moment. But here is an address for a site with "statistics on the web"

http://my.execpc.com/~helberg/statistics.html

I can not promise any info regarding electrical failures, but maybe you can find something helpful.
I will look if I can find the previous thread

Regards
Ralph

RE: Power Disturbances

The Canadian Electical Association (CEA) publishes a good multi-utility annual Reliability Report.  It only deals with 'outages' (>60sec).
