HIGH LUBE OIL TEMPERATURE

HIGH LUBE OIL TEMPERATURE

HIGH LUBE OIL TEMPERATURE

(OP)
Can we operate a TG set (utility set of 100 MW) at high lub oil temperature (of the order of 54-55deg.C, against the design value of 45deg.C). When set is operated at 54-55 deg.C, drain oil temperature of bearing are below 70 deg.C and bearing metal temperature are less than 85 deg.c (less than the alarm value of 90 deg.C). All vibrations are also in limits. The set is operated at high temperature due to half -x (oil whirl) in generator bearing and turbine bearing. Kindly give your opinion.
