Excel BOM Borders

Excel BOM Borders

Excel BOM Borders

(OP)
We use SW 4.1 with Excel to generate our BOMs.  We use the borders for our assembly drawings but we want to remove them for our parts book.

We have tried the following from within the SW - Excel to removed the borders, but nothing seems to work.
1) Borders Off
2) Gridlines off
3) Change border color to white.

We are able to create a table in a standalone version of Excel, turn off the gridlines and then paste the table without borders.

Any suggestions?  Is this a bug within SW?

Thanks,

Nick

RE: Excel BOM Borders

Using SW2004 SP2.1, I tried what you are trying to do without success. I don't know if this is a bug or a limitation in SW. SW usually works according to accepted standard practices & I don't know if what you are attempting is "normal" practice.

Have you asked your VAR if this is a known problem?

RE: Excel BOM Borders

SW05 SP.1 - I don't think this is a bug in SW since after all Excel is an OLE inside of SW. The grindlines will always be there no matter what, because BOM's are organized by those gridlines. So they are put in there no matter what you change. I believe it has been that away since SW first introduced Excel BOM's back in 95-96.

If you don't want Grid lines you will have to save the BOM out as an Excel file and put it back in as a table. You will lose the link though.
