Converting Ansys Model into Patran

Converting Ansys Model into Patran

Converting Ansys Model into Patran

(OP)
I need to convert an ANSYS model into Patran.  What type of files does Patran read?  Can geomtry and components transfer or just nodes and elements?  Any help is appreciated...

RE: Converting Ansys Model into Patran

I've converted ANSYS files to Patran/NASTRAN using FEMAP. I don't remember whether the geometry was maintained or not.

RE: Converting Ansys Model into Patran

Geometry will not transfer, because this is not part of the cdb file. So just nodes and elements.
The normal standard elements like brick, wedge, tetra, 4 nodes shell etc can transfer, but some special elements like contacts not. The special features of the elements (some informations for the solver etc.) normaly also is not transfered. So check it!
But after it I also say FEMFAT is the best solution to do this job.

Along this line....

Does anyone have a link to a site that defines the Patran Neutral file format for various elements, material properties, etc.....
