HP DesignJet 800 PS problem

HP DesignJet 800 PS problem

HP DesignJet 800 PS problem

(OP)
We just installed the drivers for the HP DesignJet 800 PS and can no longer print to our laser printer or the plotter using Solidworks.  All other programs and eDrawings still work fine for both output devices.  Calls to HP and Solidworks have not helped.

Also odd, the preview in Solidworks no longer works either, we see a blank page which is what SW prints.

What did we screw up?  We have XP and SW 2005

Thanks!

RE: HP DesignJet 800 PS problem

Just to clarify, what do you mean by not being able to print -- the print job never makes it to the printer, or you get blank pages?

Aside from that, a few suggestions:

Try putting a checkmark next to the option "Use Software OpenGL" under Tools / Options / System Options / Performance and see if you still have the same issue with printing.  If not, it could be your video card causing the problem.

Is XP service pack 2 installed?  If so, you need SW2005 SP0.1, or you'll have compatibility issues.

Are you using the correct printer driver?  Is it up-to-date?  Are you sure you're sending the print jobs to the right printer, and that you have adequate permissions to send print jobs to it?  (Silly questions, I know, but it never hurts to make sure.)

RE: HP DesignJet 800 PS problem

If you see a blank page in preview, check your print setup. You may be zoomed in real close and you can't the drawing, model, etc...

Otherwise follow PDMAdmin's Advice.

I checked on the "open GL" and that option is grayed out for me so I can not select it.  I double checked to make sure that we are zoomed out in the preview.

We have XP SP 1 with all of the updates, but not specifically SP2.  We are running SW 2005 with SP .01

I am starting to wonder if we ever printed after loading SP .01 from Solidworks, but before we loaded the HP drivers.  Could the SP .01 from Solidworks have screwed it up?

Thanks so far and anyone with other ideas I'd love to hear from you.

The reason that option would be greyed out is because you have file(s) open. You CANNOT have any files open.

Otherwise try an older driver for the plotter and updating your Laser driver.

It maybe a driver issue for that matter. Try reinstalling the Driver.

If that doesn't fix it:

RE: HP DesignJet 800 PS problem

Hi again.  I could do the "software Gl" and that had no effect other than making DWGs look extremely bad when opened in SW.
I did the Regedit thing and the "soft" reinstall using Control Panel.  Nothing works thus far.

Another thing to note is that all of the icons for preview in SW explorer are cyan colored boxes with no details.  Pre 2005 files still show icons when looking, but new 205 files only have the opaque box.

Anything else you can think of?
