Learning about learnings??

Learning about learnings??

Learning about learnings??

(OP)
One of my pet peeves is the use of the word “learnings”. Usually it is coming from the mouth of a manager or a HR type who says something like “What learnings can we take away from this meeting?” Now I suppose that learning as a noun is fine, since it is listed that way in Webster’s, but learnings? Even the spell checker in MS Word doesn’t like learnings. Am I wrong for reacting like someone had scratched a chalk board when people use this word? Is this something that other people use, or is this confined to the company I work for? Here it has become a staple of management speak.

RE: Learning about learnings??

Never heard the term "learnings".

My gut tells me anyone that would use it needs some.

RE: Learning about learnings??

I would vote for "lessons".

RE: Learning about learnings??

OR simply say "What can we learn from this meeting?"

RE: Learning about learnings??

Heard it all the time in my previous company. This is typically a word invented by a senior VP and progressively used by everybody underneath to look promotionable. It is the same contagious thing as the tie, the blue shirt and the management "hair" (see also Dilbert). For the unpromotionable observer it is a most hilarious thing.
