Viton in Methanol

Viton in Methanol

Viton in Methanol

(OP)
I appreciate that viton is NOT a suitable sealing elastomer in methanol service but what are the implications of using viton in produced water with, say, 11,000 ppm methanol? Is the effect the same - viz deterioration of the viton. IS there a concentration limit that viton will take and is there a time factor involved?

I have to admit that this is not an area in which I am well versed so any responses that verge on the 'bleeding obvious' shall be welcome.

Thanks.
