TeamCenter Vs Smarteam

TeamCenter Vs Smarteam

TeamCenter Vs Smarteam

(OP)
My team is currently in the process of selecting a PDM solution.  We have narrowed it down to two Teamcenter or SmarTeam, and the team is divided as to which tool to choose.  Any recommendation from users on which tool is better?

RE: TeamCenter Vs Smarteam

Hi

We had the same dilema. Not sure which cad packages you have but we needed to use catia V4 / V5 , Cadds 5 & UG NX.

At the time we were told SmarTeam could only really work with V5, and would work 'sort of' work with the other packages. The UG guys quickly jumped in with the 'true multicad' Teamcenter and we bought into it.

We are in the throngs of installing Teamcenter on PC's for  V5 and have come across some slight concerns regarding importing and exporting data along with reduced V5 functionallity.

Our conclusion would be as follows:

For Catia V5 use Smarteam, Its a Dassault product so should work well. You but lics for each seat for each cad package so could be costly.

For Multicad use Teamcenter ,its based around Metaphase (best PDM) and in the long term this should be the best offering. Once you but the specific cad plugin you the buy a single seat lic which can be used on any of the cad plugins you have.

Have you made your choice ?  I would be interested in any comments etc.

If you want any other info etc add to the thread.
