hole array in wildfire

hole array in wildfire

(OP)
I have been using Solid Edge for several years now and yesterday I started using Wildfire 2.0.  I can't seem to figure out how to make a hole array in sheetmetal. And so far I'm not impressed with the user interface for defining some of the sheetmetal features.  If someone could let me know how to make a hole array that would be great.  Thanks.

RE: hole array in wildfire

I think you are talking about a what Pro/E calls a pattern.  What you need to do for this is make the cut you want to pattern, make sure that the direction you want to pattern in has a dimension (for example if you want to pattern horizontally across your part, make sure there is a dimension from the side, dont align your sketch).  After your first feature is complete, right click on it, in the menu you will see pattern.  Then you pick the dimension you want to repeat, enter the increment and # of instances.

Dont worry about the interface, PTC changes it every couple of realeases, so once you get used to it, they will change it for you!

RE: hole array in wildfire

TXS,

Wildfire has some cool new pattern functionality that pretty much gets rid of the need for driving dims and relation patterns. Although I liked the old Make Datums functionality which has been a pain for many new users the new pattern functionality should remove a lot of unneccesarry datums from display.

I think the WF2 demo site or proe-central.com has some free videos that show the new pattern tools.
I lost the direct link to the wildfire 2 demo site so If either of you fill out the form to see the tour please post the direct link.

if you're not a proecentral member you may need to sign up but it's free so it shouldn't be hard to get to.

MJCOLE-  That video was pretty cool, and I didnt have to register.  A very interesting way to make the pattern with the fill tool.  Nice to know different ways to get at something.
