Excel BOM issue

Excel BOM issue

Excel BOM issue

(OP)
I have an issue with my home PC regarding inserting an Excel BOM. I get an error message saying "Failed to launch server application" which is followed with "Error creating Bill of Materials". Needless to say, I am not able to create the BOM. This seems to be consistent with any new drawing or double clicking the BOM on existing drawings. The existing drawings have been created at work.
I am using 2005 SP0.1 and my OS is XP Home, SP2. The Excel version is 2002 and seems to work fine otherwise. I haven't seen any other issues after upgrading the OS to SP2 but with very light Solidworks usage. Is this an XP SP2 issue? I thought that SWX SP0.1 was supposed to fix any of these. Any thoughts?

RE: Excel BOM issue

I've seen this error pop up occasionally when you try to insert the Excel table (design table, BOM etc.) with Excel already open.

Try closing excel then inserting the BOM and see what happens.  Check your processes to make sure there aren't any "hidden" sessions of Excel running.
