(OP)
We currently use mechanical snap gauges when trying to measure the OD of shaft bearing journals.  After conducting a gage R & R, we found that well over 30% of our bearing journal tolerances are consumed by error in measurement.  Has anyone been successful with any other technology.  Our runout tolerance is +/-.001 TIR.
