Descent/Ascent rates

Descent/Ascent rates

Descent/Ascent rates

(OP)
hi, im currently involved in a project which involves measuring the descent rate and ascent rate of a diver underwater with the aim to control it within certain limits. My question is; does anybody have any recommendations on ways to measure the descent/ascent rate of a person underwater? Thanks

RE: Descent/Ascent rates

Are you looking for particular pieces of equipment to do this?  Or general approaches?

You just measure the pressure, right?  Depth is proportional to pressure.  Depth change divided by time interval will give average ascent/ descent rate.

How is this related to Piping and Fluid Mechanics?
