Mates - Can they be driven?

Mates - Can they be driven?

Mates - Can they be driven?

(OP)
I am new to Solidorks having moved from Inventor where Constraints (the IV equivalent of mates) can be driven between their limits to give you an animated view of your assembly working. Using the limit mates, under 'advanced mates' is there any way this can be replicated?

RE: Mates - Can they be driven?

check into using a simulation.  The simulation shoul ddrive the limit mates between it's limits.

RE: Mates - Can they be driven?

Or just make a configuration of the parts in each position. Mate values can be configuration specific.

You might want to use a design table to manage your configurations as well.

Thanks for the feedback, but as far as I can see with the configs. this is a way of showing one of two or more different 'resting' postions for an assembly without seeing the in-between motion and with the simulations it doesn't like the limit mates I have in place and I do not have the tools to drive an angular mate between it's limits as required. Any other ideas?

RE: Mates - Can they be driven?

You can use Animator or you can use Exploded view and only explode that part. I made mine at the minimum and done an explode view of just that one part. I exploded to the Maximum length and "OK" out of the Explode steps. I then RMB the Explode and click "Animate Explode".

If you have Animator you have the ability to Record an Animation.
