Isometric views for 3d drawings

Isometric views for 3d drawings

(OP)
I am wanting to get information on whether ANSI accepts balloon (item numbers) on isometric views.  Is this an acceptable practice.

RE: Isometric views for 3d drawings

I think you have a misconception of ANSI standards.  ANSI doesn't "approve" or "accept" drawings.  ANSI/ASME is a standards organization.  YOur client will determine what is acceptable for design documents.

If you're referring to instrumentation symbols, it's ISA (Instrument Society of America).  Again, this is a standards organization only - they do not care how you use the symbols or in what context.

RE: Isometric views for 3d drawings

I have been adding balloons to iso views for years in different fields of engineering and never had a problem with it. I don't know of a spec that says yes or no to doing it.

RE: Isometric views for 3d drawings

Many exploded assembly drawingsa re isometric, and I have always seen them with balloons.  I think I've ever seen anything that states you can't do this.
