double sided adhesive

(OP)
Guys,

I'm trying to make a gasket that has adhesive on both sides. The vendor is is telling me that it is almost impossible to do that. Was it?

Thanks
Aph

RE: double sided adhesive

You can buy double stick tape so it is possible.
Rather, I think the vendor is telling you that it isn't PRACTICAL. When you assemble parts with a gasket, you need to allow one side to move for alignment, otherwise the gasket can tear.
Since the gasket should do the actual sealing, the adhesive should be considered only as an installation aid.
Why not consider applied in place material such as RTV Silicone or other "tube" sealants.

RE: double sided adhesive

Try the 3M website (eg. 3m9731) . People do it all the time...depends on the gasket/seal material (ie. silicone, epdm, etc).
