Pretensioned spun concrete pile - wire cut-off

Pretensioned spun concrete pile - wire cut-off

Pretensioned spun concrete pile - wire cut-off

(OP)
Dear all,

In general details, pretensioned wires shall not be cut during the cut-off for Pretensioned Spun Concrete Pile. Wires shall be connected into the raft footing for connectivity between pile and concrete footing.

However, if we cut the wires the cut-off elevation, then how pile head cut-off would be rehabilitated?

Is it required to remain the pretensioned wire during pile head cut-off?

Please help me.

RE: Pretensioned spun concrete pile - wire cut-off

You should have a drawing/specification which you can follow. A common detail is to cut off the pile (including wires) at the cut-off level. Then to either fill the pile with clean sand or to suspend a formwork. Roughen the internal surface of the pile and place a rebar cage, cast concrete to the top level of the pile.

Thank you, Zambo!

Compared with your comments, such as "common detail", in Japn details, pretensioned wires shall not be cut-off for Pretensioned Spun Concrete Piles.

If you have any web-site on said details, please let me know.

RE: Pretensioned spun concrete pile - wire cut-off

sorry no web-site or details on-line. I have used the detail I describe twice, once in Malaysia once in Thailand. The rebar cage and the "plug" level inside the pile were on both occasions shown on the project drawings. Doesn't the pile supplier have standard details?
