Standards for engineering drawings of motors?

Standards for engineering drawings of motors?

(OP)
Are there any standards which apply to the information and notation contained on engineering drawings of motors (particularly brushless DC motors)?  The drawings in question are for procurement control of motors designed by other companies.

ASME Y14.24 (Types and applications of engineering drawings) includes a number of mechanical and electrical special-application drawing types, such as cable assemblies, wiring diagrams, and various types of schematics, but not motors specifically.  Are there any IEEE, NEMA, UL, etc. standards which discuss notation for timing diagrams, and the motor-specific wiring diagrams (e.g., "star" & "delta" configs)?

RE: Standards for engineering drawings of motors?

In IEC land the following standards apply to motors:

IEC60034 : Rotating electrical machines
IEC60072 : Dimensions and output series for rotating electrical machines

RE: Standards for engineering drawings of motors?

NEMA MG-1.
A condensed version is available as a free download at http://www.nema.org/help/docno.html. It will probably be all you need. The "full" version is generally useful only to motor manufacturers.

rbalex,

Thanks, that looks like what we need.  Machinery's Handbook references that standard, as well, in its brief section on electric motors.

The only listed condensed version, though, (MG 1-2002) appears to be limited to AC squirrel-cage induction motors.  The number of the "Motors and Generators" standard is ANSI/NEMA MG 1-2003 (and its 2004 revision).
