I have a three phase 1.1 kw motor which i need to replace by a single phase motor of equivalent torque.Can anyone give me information as to where i can get comparison torque curves.

Hello spnar,

Not sure if the following will be of use to you but here goes anyway.

If your desire to replace the three phase motor with a single phase motor is based on a lack of three-phase supply, you may wish to hang on to your existing motor and consider the purchase/use of a single phase input, three phase output variable speed drive. Where I'm from that would be more economical than replacing the motor and provide several other benefits that may be advantageous to you.

A single phase motor might have to be 1 or 2 sizes larger depending on the amount of torque for starting or running.

If your 3-phase motor is subject to deliberate overloads on a cyclic basis or occasional jamming, a larger motor is a good idea regardless of single phase or three phase.

I like GGOSS proposal.
Leave the actual 3 phase motor and get a single phase input, three phase output VSD.
The first advantage is dimensional. Since single phase motors need a larger frame size you will save the cost to modify the base and coupling array.
The single phase motor cost is higher than a three phase motor.
So, you will end spending only in the new VSD and keeping the original motor torque-speed characteristics.
