I am about to commence my final year of a part time B.Eng in Building Services Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire / England.
The dissertation topic I have chosen is a comparitive study of vapour absorption cooling vs vapour compression cooling to provide chilled water for building services applications.
Given there is a cogeneration scheme producing waste steam.
I would be grateful for any advice as to how best to proceed with this or any supporting information regarding my chosen topic.

I'm no expert but I have had experience with both methods and have found that absorption systems have a hard time matching the efficiency of compression systems. Probably the best resource (from a manufacturer's position) would be Electrolux. They make a wide variety of absorption systems. Many companies are in the vapor compression business so it should be easy to find what standard COP's are using the newer refrigerants. Don't overlook ad-sorption (as opposed to ab-)technology.
