is mdt dead?

RE: is mdt dead?

Hi iraniii,

I'm not a MDT-user, but I think autodesk will do a medically assisted suicide.

RE: is mdt dead?

Starting with ACAD 2004, Autodesk will not upgrade MDT.  Your choices are mechanical 2004 (2D)and inventor (3D).  I have MDT on my personal system and it has several limitions in regards to building 3D models from sketches especially when building gears.  For example, I have to build one tooth on the 3D circle and extrude it and use polar 3D array.  In ACAD, I build the whole gear and extrude.

Hope this helps,
John

RE: is mdt dead?

Dear iraniii,
Why do you like to continue with MDT?
If you know parametric design basics, you can easily switch on another modeling software.

as i see, i must switch to inventor.
i use unigraphics, catia and solidworks too.
but mdt is the simplest 4 capturing 2d drawing from 3d models.
