WRC 107 stress concentration

WRC 107 stress concentration

WRC 107 stress concentration

(OP)
WRC 107 talks about two stress concentration factors.

Kn is membrane stress conc. factor (pure tension or compression)
Kb is bending stress conc. factor

But can some one tell me how and where to look them up?

RE: WRC 107 stress concentration

My interpretation is that those factors are relevant only to fatigue analyses. However fatigue analysis of nozzles is conducted normally per Div.2, so I never used those factors.

You might get a few more replies if you post this over in the Piping and Fluid Mechanics forum.

Thanks!

RE: WRC 107 stress concentration

The 1979 revision of WRC107 included Appendix B - Stress Concentration factors for Stresses due to External Loads. This Appendix has curves for the evaluation of Kn & Kb values.

Also, you may find the WRC107 article published in the COADE June 2000 newsletter useful. You can find this at http://www.coade.com/newsletters/jun00.pdf.
